
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be celebrating the 100th birthday of one of Judy’s frequent co-stars, Gene Kelly, on May 17th. The special gala evening of film clips, stories and personal remembrances of Gene will be hosted by Gene’s widow, Patricia Ward Kelly. The evening will showcase the multi-talented man and feature special guests. Clips from such Gene films as Living in a Big Way, The Pirate, An American in Paris, Invitation to Dance, Hello Dolly! and of course Singin’ in the Rain will be shown with insightful commentary on Gene’s creative process.
The event will be held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre, 8949 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, California. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and ticketed seating is unreserved. The price is $5 general admission, $3 for Academy members and students with valid ID (limit 2 at the discount price). So if you plan to be in Beverly Hills or the general L.A. area get your tickets!
